Choreography Analysis and Brief Intro
Vocaloids are everywhere ever since its founding, it’s hard to not listen to it. Yet, as washed up as the genre is, there are a few who are still true to the craft, and create works that are worth the admiration.
“Nameless”, amongst other aliases such as XYXYZ, xOoOx_, ゲスト (Guest) and OTOTO, is an indie musician or indie group that focuses on Vocaloid-based music. They are not to be confused with the music group NONAME and their affiliate also named nameless.
Information regarding the musician and their partners is a mystery, though the handful of originals provided by them does contain original artwork by @stdio_nameraka. No other information pertaining to their group, or this individual exists, aside from a picture of a Silver play button to celebrate their 100k subscriber milestone on YouTube.
“Nameless” originally created their YouTube channel on the August of 2018, and a subsequent channel under the XYXYZ (Although under the same “Nameless” Youtube Name, it is uncertain whether or not these are distinct or the same individuals) alias in 2019, with “Nameless” posting both a handful of Originals and a few covers of famous tracks such as King or Big Brother.
Ignoring the covers, we may discover a certain chilly aspect about the nature of their Originals. Contrary to popular standards where vocaloid music often feature high energy melodics or edgy synths, The Originals released by “Nameless” are often calm, with an icy atmosphere surrounding the start of the music, featuring harmonics from instruments such as a piano, mallets or conventional basses and synths. Such an aspect contributes to the story which “Nameless” is trying to tell with his tracks, which would be discussed later in the thread.
Although nothing in terms of instrumentation that stands out, the way they are arranged is what truly brings its uniqueness to lights, and obviously, the expressive vocaloid work that gave the whole music its substance. The music, as mentioned before, starts with a calm - or lively - Introduction, which would constantly work around a consistent progression before rapidly spiralling down into a grand climax to appropriately end the music. Although Vocaloids lack an effective expression of emotion, this is sufficiently backed up by the intricate instrumentation that continues to drive the music upwards, and assist in the driving of emotions throughout the track.
Overall, I sincerely recommend giving “Nameless” a go. The handful of tracks mean that there won’t be much variety to go through, but each track stood out by themselves like an obscure piece of art. I’m sure their music can bring a certain pleasure to most of their listeners.

“Nameless” ‘s music has always been revolving around creepier themes compared to other artists, but after he started putting “ “ as his music titles his channel started to boom, and with the release of the “nameless-chan” (this is how people in the comments refer to her) series, he really started to gain mass popularity.

“Nameles-chan series” (I’m gonna refer to the songs circled in red in Image 1.0 as that for now), is centered around creepypasta-ish stories which is made very apparent in the first video “the station song” (first video from the right side). That song has a strong resemblance to the japanese creepypasta Kisaragi Station, the creepypasta which is about Hasumi missing her stop on the shizuoka line and ending up in a station in Kisaragi, she then goes through a bizarre chain of events till her phone’s battery dies.
( For this part of the song, “nameless’ jumbled up all of the entries in the kisaragi 2chan thread, which captures the chaos and uncertainty of the situation Hasami is in perfectly)
After explaining the background/backdrop of this song, the lyrics of the song actually encapsulates the feeling of Hasumi (“nameless” interpretation of it at the very least) really well, the first half of the song is all about everything that happened within the thread, which is conveyed clearly to the listener through its lyrics and visuals.
The latter half of the video is “nameless” interpretation on what happened to Hasumi after her phone battery die, which he sees it as Hasumi losing complete contact with the real world as she has gone to the “other side” for a picnic, and no matter how hard people from “our side” tries to search for her, it will all end in vain. As with other creepypastas, you won’t be able to truly say that it doesn’t exist nor are you able to say that it truly exists.
As for the rest of the “nameless-chan series” is music videos, about “nameless-chan” slowly descending deeper and deeper into the so called underworld, (I forgot to mention that Kisaragi station, the kanji for the station name is actually Devil, so the underworld thing does make sense.) and as every song goes by, she is deeper down and so is the deterioration of her mental state.
Overall, the “nameless-chan series” is something that is really interesting and well thought out, so do check it out if you have the time to do so. I’mma sign off here.
